UAE leaders pay tribute to Hussain Khansaheb, a construction industry pioneer and philanthropist, following his passing on Friday.
DUBAI: The UAE is mourning the loss of one of its most distinguished and respected figures, Hussain Abdulrahman Khansaheb, who passed away on Friday. He served as chairman of Khansaheb Group for over six decades, leaving behind a legacy that shaped both the built landscape and humanitarian fabric of the country.
Leading the tributes were UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Both highlighted Khansaheb’s lifelong dedication to nation-building and his enduring contributions to charity and community welfare.
In a heartfelt message on social media, Sheikh Mohamed said Khansaheb “contributed to our nation’s advancement and worked to better our community through wide-reaching humanitarian and charitable initiatives.” He remembered him for his generosity and public service, and extended condolences to his family and all those who knew him.
Sheikh Mohammed praised Khansaheb as “a pioneer in infrastructure and community projects,” recalling his work in building housing for the underprivileged, orphanages, and health centres. “This is what elevates the value of any person and immortalises his name in the nation’s memory,” he added.
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, described Khansaheb as “one of the country’s most loyal figures” and a symbol of philanthropy whose legacy will continue through his impactful work.
Established in 1935, Khansaheb Group is older than the UAE itself and has played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s infrastructure. Under Hussain Khansaheb’s leadership, the company completed iconic projects such as the Clock Tower Roundabout, Sharjah Airport, Mall of the Emirates, and St Mary’s Church, Dubai’s first church.
Beyond business, Khansaheb was recognised in 2021 among 12 prominent Emirati businessmen honoured for their philanthropic service by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. His efforts to uplift society earned him immense respect as both a builder and a humanitarian.
The funeral prayer took place at Martyrs Mosque in Al Qusais, with condolences being received at the family residence in Al Mizhar 1, Dubai.
His vision, values, and unwavering dedication to the UAE’s progress will continue to inspire future generations.
