ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has successfully rescued 22 crew members from a commercial vessel after it came under attack in the Red Sea. The ship, named ‘Magic Seas’, issued a distress signal following structural damage caused by an assault while navigating through the busy maritime corridor.
Responding swiftly, the UAE-operated vessel ‘Safeen Prism’, managed by AD Ports Group, intervened to provide emergency assistance. The crew of the distressed ship was forced to abandon it due to the severity of the situation and difficult sea conditions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed that the UAE’s coordinated response ensured the safe evacuation of all individuals on board—including the ship’s crew and onboard security team. The operation was conducted in collaboration with global maritime safety partners, including the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and other international organisations.
Authorities noted that the rescue was executed in line with the highest safety standards, demonstrating the UAE’s active role in safeguarding international shipping lanes. The government also reiterated its ongoing commitment to humanitarian action and global maritime stability amidst increasing security risks in strategic waterways.
