President El-Sisi said Egypt is intensifying mediation to ease Middle East tensions and push for a lasting peace process.

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reiterated Egypt’s continued commitment to reduce tensions and restore calm across the Middle East, highlighting the nation’s leading diplomatic role in promoting sustainable peace in the region.

Speaking during a meeting with Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, President El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s dedication to reviving the political process. The president emphasised that efforts must be directed at achieving a comprehensive and just resolution to long-standing conflicts.

He also pointed to the ongoing mediation conducted by Egypt, alongside the United States and Qatar, which is focused on securing an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and captives, and the delivery of critical humanitarian aid.

The meeting underlined the strategic ties between Egypt and the United States, with both sides affirming the need for continued coordination amid growing regional challenges. President El-Sisi praised the upcoming “Bright Star 2025” joint military exercises, describing them as a symbol of robust security cooperation.

Both leaders agreed on the urgency of de-escalating the current situation in the region and pledged ongoing diplomatic and defence efforts to support peace and stability across the Middle East.
