Macron and Trump discuss Russian drone incursions into Poland and Israeli strikes in Qatar, stressing stronger France-US cooperation for peace.
PARIS: French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday in a phone call focused on recent geopolitical tensions, including Russia’s drone incursions and Israeli strikes in Qatar.
In a post shared on X, Macron said the conversation centred on Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, particularly the latest drone incursions into Poland, which have raised alarm in Europe. He also highlighted growing concerns about the Middle East after Israel’s strikes in Doha, stressing that both crises require urgent international coordination.
Macron underlined that Europe and the United States must act in tandem, stating that closer cooperation is essential to tackling these challenges effectively. “Together, we can make a decisive contribution to peace and security,” he said, echoing the spirit of transatlantic unity.
The French leader’s remarks reflect Europe’s heightened unease as Russia intensifies its use of drone warfare, testing NATO’s eastern borders. At the same time, the Middle East crisis has deepened following Israel’s actions in Qatar, prompting calls for restraint and diplomacy.
For Washington and Paris, the conversation signalled a renewed commitment to joint action, positioning the France-US partnership as a key pillar in managing both European and Middle Eastern security threats. The emphasis on unity comes at a time when global instability is forcing allies to reassess their strategies and collective response.
