The Global Alliance on Green Economy, led by the UAE and WGEO, now includes 91 member states working on green energy, finance, and sustainability.
DUBAI: A total of 91 countries have officially joined the Global Alliance on Green Economy (GAGE), an international initiative spearheaded by the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO) in partnership with the United Arab Emirates. The alliance aims to fast-track the global shift toward sustainability by offering support in capacity-building, green financing, and technology transfer.
Announced during the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) in Dubai, the alliance is seeing growing international momentum. Abdulrahim Sultan, Director-General of WGEO, confirmed that an additional 15 nations are currently finalising their accession to the alliance. He said the rising number of participating countries reflects strong global confidence in WGEO as a key strategic partner for climate action and sustainable development.
Sultan also revealed that US$1.1 billion has been allocated exclusively for green-certified projects under the alliance’s framework. “This funding will support initiatives in clean energy, sustainable finance, and knowledge-sharing among member nations,” he said.
The current focus of GAGE involves executing intensive capacity-building programmes across sectors, with plans to shift toward project financing in the near term. This two-phase approach ensures countries are equipped with the skills and infrastructure needed to successfully implement sustainable solutions.
WGEO continues to act as a bridge between nations, enabling the transfer of knowledge, technical expertise, and financial tools necessary to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The UAE’s leadership in founding and hosting WGEO further strengthens its reputation as a proactive global player in climate diplomacy and green economic transformation, particularly ahead of COP-related commitments and international climate targets.
