The world’s largest office complex, Surat Diamond Bourse, is about to officially open for business.
The Surat Diamond Bourse covers a constructed area of 6.7 million square feet (620,000 square meters), making it larger than even the Pentagon in US. It cost AED 1.4 billion ($384 million) to build.
The huge complex is intended to send a signal that Surat, in India’s Gujarat state, is the global capital of the diamond industry.

India’s diamond business is super important worldwide, dealing with more than 90% of the world’s raw diamonds and adding $23 billion every year to the global diamond sales. Mumbai usually handles the exporting part, but Surat, also known as “Diamond City,” is the go-to place for processing these valuable gems.
Now, the Diamond Bourse wants to change how things work in the Indian diamond trade. They aim to make a big difference by bringing all the operations together in one place and providing excellent facilities. This new hub is expected to attract major global players, bringing in more foreign investments and trade. It’s predicted to create more than 150,000 job opportunities, which is fantastic for the skilled workers in Surat.
