LONDON: A front-row seat at this year’s Wimbledon could cost you more than a brand-new Mercedes. Yes, seriously.
Ticket prices for the finals have gone wild — with some seats selling for over £100,000 (that’s nearly AED 490,000). For that amount, you could drive home in a luxury sports car. Instead, fans are paying it to sit on Centre Court and watch tennis stars battle it out.
So what does a six-figure seat get you? A great view, live tennis drama, a few celebrity sightings, and maybe some strawberries and cream. But it’s safe to say this is no longer your average day out.
Wimbledon is known for being classy and traditional, but this year, demand is sky-high. Big names, exciting matches, and surprise wins have made these tickets the hottest thing in town — even hotter than a luxury car in summer.
People online are shocked at the prices. Some say they’d need to sell their car, house, and half their wardrobe to afford a seat this year. Others are happy just watching it from the couch with popcorn.
Still, the organisers say there are cheaper ways to enjoy the event. Tickets from the public ballot start at £27 (Approx AED 130) — if you’re lucky enough to get picked. Although the public ballot is closed for this year, you can try your luck for the 2026 games. Click here to enter.
