DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a significant project aimed at improving access points for four key neighbourhoods in the city. The upgraded entry and exit points, strategically located along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Hessa Street, will provide smoother connections to Nadd Hessa, Al Awir 1, Al Barsha South, and Wadi Al Safa 3. Once completed, these improvements are expected to increase capacity by 50 to 80 percent.

According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA, the initiative underscores RTA’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in residential areas, making it more capable of handling increasing traffic volumes. The upgraded access will serve over 400,000 residents and is accompanied by various roadworks and traffic solutions designed to improve mobility.

The project includes enhancements like a new entry and exit for Nadd Hessa, designed to accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour, benefiting areas like Warsan 4, Hessa Gardens, and Dubai Silicon Oasis, home to more than 300,000 people. A roundabout and signalised junction will be constructed to improve traffic flow and reduce travel time significantly.

In Al Awir 1, a new 7.5 km road will provide direct access to Emirates Road, doubling traffic capacity to 3,000 vehicles per hour. Meanwhile, the ongoing Hessa Street development in Al Barsha South will expand traffic flow from 6,000 to 9,000 vehicles per hour, benefiting around 75,000 residents.
