Sharjah announces over 40 local, Arab and international cultural events for September 2025–August 2026, reaffirming its status as a global creative hub.

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Department of Culture has launched its comprehensive annual programme for the 2025–2026 season, unveiling plans to host more than 40 festivals and forums across local, Arab, and international stages. The initiative runs from September 2025 through August 2026 and is designed to reinforce Sharjah’s role as a vibrant centre of intellectual and cultural life.

According to Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, this extensive programme reflects the emirate’s cultural vision under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The plan aims to embed culture, creativity, and the arts into the fabric of public life, transforming Sharjah’s efforts into a global cultural dialogue.

The annual agenda includes a diverse range of events: poetry festivals, theatrical performances, cultural forums, and literary seminars. These platforms will serve as open spaces for Arab thinkers, writers, and artists to share their work and exchange ideas.

Al Owais emphasised that the department will also continue to offer literary awards across various genres and honour prominent figures in the cultural community. These recognitions, he said, serve to motivate creators and sustain the emirate’s deep-rooted cultural momentum.

Public participation has also become a defining feature of Sharjah’s cultural activities, with local and international audiences actively engaging in the events. This interaction, the Department of Culture noted, supports the emirate’s mission to build an inclusive and dynamic creative environment.
