SHARJAH: The 2024 Al Dhaid Date Festival, held from 3rd to 6th October at Expo Al Dhaid, concluded successfully, attracting thousands of visitors and generating AED 1 million in sales. Organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the festival brought together UAE date producers, palm farmers, and key government and private sector representatives.

The event featured a vibrant date market, showcasing premium date varieties at competitive prices, along with a popular auction that facilitated significant business deals. Local productive families also participated, displaying various products related to date palm cultivation.

The festival included exciting competitions, such as the “Best Stuffed Date Dish” contest, exclusively for women, with valuable prizes for the most creative dishes. Cultural activities and folklore performances added to the lively heritage atmosphere of Al Dhaid.

Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, highlighted the festival’s importance in promoting sustainable agricultural development in Sharjah, particularly in date farming and trading. The event also helped boost exports and provided local families with opportunities to market their heritage products.

Mohammad Musabah Al Tunaiji, General Coordinator of the festival, emphasised its success in connecting farmers with traders and consumers, contributing to the economic growth of palm farmers and exhibitors. The festival continues to play a vital role in supporting the UAE’s agricultural sector and enhancing the quality of date products.
