DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has rolled out the Dubai City Inspector initiative, a pioneering programme aimed at upgrading inspection services across the emirate. In its first phase, the initiative has certified 63 Emirati inspectors trained across 14 technical fields — setting a new standard for municipal regulation and operational excellence.
The project introduces a unified, streamlined inspection framework covering diverse sectors including food safety, sanitation, waste management, public facilities, health and safety, sustainability and construction oversight. The initiative also helps reduce redundant visits and improve community satisfaction by enhancing transparency, efficiency, and response times in regulatory actions.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said the Dubai City Inspector programme supports Dubai’s vision to be the world’s most liveable and attractive city. “Inspection operations are critical for institutional planning and service innovation,” he added.
To support the rollout, the municipality launched a professional diploma programme that certifies inspectors with cross-sector training. The initiative also empowers inspectors through advanced digital tools, risk-based checklists, clear legislative guidelines, job descriptions, and training modules — boosting service quality and legal enforcement capabilities.
City Inspectors are now equipped to conduct scheduled, complaint-driven, and AI-aided visual inspections. A new digital platform will help track inspections, automate reporting, and respond faster to resident feedback, while ensuring high regulatory compliance.
By certifying the first batch of qualified City Inspectors, Dubai Municipality is enhancing the integrity of its systems, improving urban oversight, and driving smart governance — making the Dubai City Inspector initiative a regional benchmark for municipal innovation.
