DUBAI: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is set to showcase various services, initiatives, projects, and achievements aimed at empowering people of determination during the AccessAbilities Expo. This event highlights the DHA’s commitment to mental health awareness through the “Psychological Wellbeing in Dubai” initiative.
Dr. Ramadan Al Blooshi, Advisor to the Director-General of DHA and Acting Director of Public Health Protection, emphasised the importance of this initiative as part of the Dubai Mental Wealth Strategy. This strategy aims to make Dubai a “home of health, happiness, and prosperity.”

The services target students of determination across the UAE, including those in special needs centres and private schools in Dubai. Dr. Al Blooshi noted that enhancing the quality of life and promoting mental wellbeing among students is essential. This involves creating supportive environments, changing negative perceptions about mental health, and raising awareness among students, their families, and healthcare providers. It also includes helping parents manage mental health issues effectively.
DHA provides these specialised services free of charge, collaborating with partners such as Appolonia Dental Centre and Dr. Nicolas & ASP. The community response has been positive, with DHA conducting 67 lectures and workshops benefiting nearly 5,000 individuals.
During the AccessAbilities Expo, DHA will also highlight its Early Eye Health Screening Programme. This programme, part of the annual school health services plan, aims to improve the quality of life for students of determination by preventing eye diseases and encouraging regular eye check-ups.

Parents will be informed about their children’s eye health, with the service delivered free of charge by a specialised team of medical professionals. This initiative partners with organisations like Al Jaber Optical Centres and Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, adhering to the highest standards of care and protocols.
