The UAE helped seize 822 tonnes of drugs worth $2.9 billion in a massive ISA-led international operation across 25 countries.
ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates played a key role in a sweeping international anti-drug operation conducted by the International Security Alliance (ISA), which led to the seizure of over 822 tonnes of illicit drugs valued at $2.9 billion. This unprecedented effort, carried out by land, air, and sea, targeted transnational criminal networks operating across global borders.
The joint operation involved 25 nations, including the UAE, Bahrain, France, Spain, Morocco, Italy, and the Netherlands, with support from global police organisations such as Europol and Ameripol. Over a two-month period, the collaborative enforcement action also resulted in the arrest of 12,564 suspects linked to cross-border smuggling activities.
The International Security Alliance operation focused not only on interception but also on enhancing global intelligence sharing, field coordination, and expert-level collaboration. It enabled authorities to uncover new criminal methods, unify efforts against organised crime, and improve rapid-response mechanisms for future operations.
Established in 2017 by the UAE and France, the ISA has emerged as a key platform for strategic international security cooperation. The latest anti-drug mission demonstrates the UAE’s ongoing commitment to regional and global safety, while reinforcing its reputation as a proactive player in global crime prevention.
This major crackdown strengthens trust among ISA members, boosts international security frameworks, and affirms the importance of multi-national partnerships in addressing complex global threats. The International Security Alliance operation sets a powerful precedent for future joint missions aimed at curbing drug trafficking and dismantling criminal syndicates worldwide.
