Brazil met Gulf ambassadors to secure investment in infrastructure, logistics, and sustainability ahead of COP30 in Belém.
BELÉM: Brazil’s Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, has met with ambassadors from six Gulf countries — the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain — to strengthen cooperation and attract investment ahead of COP30. The meeting took place in Belém, the Amazon city set to host the climate summit in November 2025.
The talks focused on boosting collaboration in infrastructure, logistics, and sustainable solutions. Sabino described COP30 as a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity to showcase the Amazon’s role in global climate discussions, branding it the “COP of the Forest.” He emphasised the event’s potential to highlight the Amazon as home to over 30 million people whose communities are vital to rainforest preservation.
Gulf representatives were briefed on development projects under way in Belém, including upgrades to the city’s hotel network, urban transport improvements, expansion of the regional air network, and new incentives for accommodation providers. These initiatives aim to ensure the city is ready to host thousands of delegates and visitors during the global event.
Sabino confirmed Brazil’s intention to widen international participation in the months leading up to COP30, positioning the Amazon as a hub for innovation, sustainability, and cross-border partnerships.
