Dubai Humanitarian dispatched a second aid airlift to Afghanistan in under a week, delivering 39.8 tonnes of critical relief supplies to support earthquake survivors.

DUBAI: Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Humanitarian has launched a second emergency airlift to Afghanistan in less than a week to support communities impacted by a recent devastating earthquake.

Coordinated through the Global Humanitarian Impact Fund (GHIF), the mission delivered 39.8 metric tonnes of vital supplies including tents, kitchen sets, shelter materials, and medical items. The cargo, valued at approximately AED 1.16 million (US$315,350), departed from Dubai on Sunday morning and is expected to support over 50,000 individuals in affected areas across Afghanistan.

This second dispatch comes shortly after a previous relief flight on Monday, which transported 84 metric tonnes of aid from four United Nations agencies. Both airlifts underscore Dubai’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian assistance and rapid crisis response through its logistics and aid support platform, Dubai Humanitarian.

The latest shipment was facilitated in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), whose supplies were rapidly mobilised through Dubai’s centralised humanitarian hub. The emirate continues to be a crucial enabler of global relief efforts, leveraging its world-class infrastructure and strategic position to ensure timely aid distribution.

By taking swift and sustained action, Dubai reaffirms its role as a leading global humanitarian logistics centre and reinforces the UAE’s commitment to alleviating suffering during international emergencies.
